8-shaft Stash Busting Twill Double Weave Blanket
******This is a PDF Pattern*******
There is a wonderful freedom in a good stash-busting project. It frees you from yarn that has been languishing in baskets, lounging in project bags or piling up on shelves. It also gives purpose to yarn with no plan. This pattern can be followed exactly, but I mean for it to be the groundwork for your own stash. Perhaps it is obvious, I used a pretty random collection of yarn in this design because it was my own stash buster. Perhaps you need to add a few stripes with different colors, use a heavier weight or change the length or width. This pattern is very adaptable. These are just the good bones for you to build on- to feel the freedom in using yarn you already have on hand. The design is a double weave project, meaning you do not need a wide loom to achieve a blanket-width finished cloth without seaming pieces together. You weave two layers simultaneously, meaning you have double the width of what is on your loom. This blanket employs a double weave twill pattern, which does require an 8-shfat loom. This is because four shafts are used for the top layer and four shafts are used for the bottom layer. If you only have a four-shaft loom, you could weave this blanket in a plain weave.
