When I walk along the beach, especially in the evening when the sun has already dipped below the horizon, I love to think of how the sand between my toes stretches all the way to the waters edge and beyond. The intricate relationship between the beautiful seashores and the ocean itself make one feel simultaneously small but wonderfully intertwined with the vastness of the world. For this cozy wool wrap, I chose a lovely sand color weft that runs through a slight middle-out ombre of sea colors. The blues and greens of the sea play beautifully with the tan of the sand just as the beaches and sea floors add character throughout the oceans. The fine cloth weave signifies the tiny grains of sand in the wide-open seas. A hint of Spanish lace trims either end of the wrap, mimicking the shape of the delicate dunes as well as the cresting ocean waves.
This fine gauge rigid heddle weave does require 2 heddles. These heddles do not need to be lifted separately, so if your loom does not have a double heddle attachment, you can still make this scarf by using rubber bands to secure your heddles together.
